01 / ABOUT
CAPTAIN
9'5
Born in Maphumulo, KwaZulu-Natal, and now making his mark in Johannesburg, Captain 9’5 is an artist who has spent years refining his craft—not chasing trends, but building something enduring.
His sound is a striking fusion: the raw, restless energy of South Africa's urban youth colliding with the grounded identity of a modern Zulu man. Hip-hop becomes the vessel, but heritage is the heartbeat—creating music that feels both fresh and deeply rooted.
Through this unique blend, Captain 9’5 gives voice to his people. He heals, grieves, teaches, and connects—telling stories that hold both the brightness of joy and the weight of loss, reflecting the full spectrum of life in South Africa today.
His artistic path has turned inward, yielding a space that is refreshingly original—a true meeting of worlds. The result is a powerful creative voice that resonates far beyond the booth, speaking to anyone who listens closely.
